Grain & Feed Association

Legislation

Legislation and regulation can kill an industry or make it prosper. According to our membership, one of the top reasons people belong to the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois is adequate representation before legislative bodies and regulatory agencies. The cost for each company to do the work that the Association does in Springfield would be staggering. However, when we pool our resources and work together on common issues and common problems, we are able to achieve so much more.

The legislative and regulatory issues we deal with are complex. From the Grain Code to Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations to OSHA Grain Handling standards, we are involved in protecting the member’s ability to run a competitive business in a highly competitive environment.

State legislation that the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois watches includes:

  • Grain Code

  • Feed Act

  • Illinois Environmental Protection Act

  • Other area include, OSHA, safety, insurance and workers compensation

On a national level the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois has a working relationship with the National Grain and Feed Association. We work to support their efforts that are consistent with our members needs. We have typically gone to Washington, DC at least once a year to support legislative and regulatory activities.

Oversight of regulatory and legislative activities is an ongoing process. Any time you have questions or concerns, please contact Jeffrey D. Adkisson, CAE, Executive Vice President.
